Founded in 2007, Hybris is an eCommerce platform which allows consumers to sell in both B2B and B2C markets with ease. In the past decade the software has significantly evolved. Acquired by SAP in 2013 and renamed to “SAP Hybris” it is now known as the next generation cloud-based CRM suite: A fully digital CRM tool which integrates with SAP ERP with omnichannel capabilities.

Stats from 2015 show the huge spike in popularity since Hybris was acquired by SAP:

Now known as SAP C/4HANA, (evolving from Hybris) it is much more than just an eCommerce platform – with outstanding features, it is an omnichannel solution providing a series of combination tools.

What are omnichannel capabilities? Well, the term omnichannel (typically used in the world of marketing) describes a multi-channel approach to sales that seeks to provide consumers with a seamless shopping experience across digital channels (via desktop, mobile or tablet) – the idea is to have a simple, yet efficient UX (user experience) – Combining this with CX (Customer experience), SAP C/4Hana is an umbrella of which Hybris solutions now fall under.

A SAP representative has best explained: “SAP Hybris Cloud is now under SAP Sales Cloud and SAP Hybris Commerce is now SAP Commerce Cloud. Additionally, SAP C/4HANA features new functionalities stemming from the SAP acquisitions of CallidusCloud, Coresystems, and Gigya.”

Hybris initially introduced one of the most popular feature amongst all users, which SAP C/4HANAh as championed: the Product Content Management module (PCM), revolutionising CX, allowing users to develop an engaging customer experience, putting products at the core of sale. Using rich content, users are presented with product images, video and data points from a single location, allowing a faster process to market, on an international basis. Validated by it’s own popularity, SAP Hybris allows users to create numerous, local, online storefronts based on a single platform, which enables effective management of product with full control.

Additionally, the comprehensive Order Management System (OMS) is a huge benefit for larger enterprises which may require a more complex and integrated solution. A number of currencies, languages and local tax rates are all funnelled in, taking away the stresses of extra legwork.

As users have access to the marketplace of ready-to-install expansions and add-ons, there is enough flexibility to stay on trend. The platform is also capable of integrating seamlessly with existing business solutions such as ERP.

Due to this flexibility, SAP C/4HANA as a platform may be considered a perfect supplement to the existing tools and systems: It combines and optimizes their operations, simultaneously offering new opportunities and providing end-users with a higher quality of service.

If ease of implementation and analytics are at the forefront of your concerns, then it seems SAP C/4HANA is truly dominating discussions over the likes of Salesforce. The future of ecommerce is here.
